Are you due a MOT soon? Have you ever wondered why your motorbike has to have an MOT? Or what’s involved in the motorcycle MOT test? It came to our attention that a lot of you out there were quite confused at what happened when you had an MOT on your bike or just had some questions regarding their MOT.

So we decided to do something about it, being the leading motorcycle MOT centre in Leicester means we know a thing or two and we’d like to share!

We have a brand new section on our website dedicated to motorcycle MOTs. It’s easy to navigate and makes understanding MOTs easy. Whether you want to know how often you should have your MOT, what you should be checking on your motorbike before your MOT and on a regular basis if you want to be riding a safe bike and any other information we think you need to know.

We’ve got a really useful check list for you to go through before you come in, from tips on what you should be looking for on your lights and signals; it sounds simple but make sure they all work! There’s nothing more frustrating than failing your MOT test on something as simple as changing a bulb. We also give you some great advice on checking your brakes, tyres and anything else we check whilst performing your MOT test.

We’ve also got an option for you to ask any questions you might have about your up coming MOT or any other questions you have about our bikes, services or just general info. We’re always happy to give you some free friendly advice.

When I was out on Saturday night, standing outside in the pub garden the most AMAZING custom Harley Davidson pulled up. It looked beautiful, it sounded beautiful and I wanted to know more, so I took my slightly tipsy self over to introduce myself and ask him a few questions! I had a chat with friendly man who came with the bike and it turns out he had building the bike for over 6 years and wouldn’t divulge how much he’d spent on it!

Since then, I have been googling and ebaying custom Harleys and just can’t believe some of the things I have seen. These aren’t just bikes, they’re works of art!

Incredible engineering, sculpted into beautiful flowing shapes. Intricate paint jobs and masses of chrome. The amount of work and effort creates something really special. And like the guy I spoke to on Saturday, can cost a lot of money, so much that you don’t even want to say how much out loud! But I can totally appreciate why these fanatics do so, what they end up with something completely unique, a bike that is completely designed to suit the rider and I can imagine is completely rewarding.

Whilst looking for Harley Customs, I came across loads of really useful websites to help with the building of these bikes, lots of hints and tips and lots of website where you are able to buy custom parts.

I’d would love it if you could send in some pictures of your custom bikes and I’ll put them on our blog!

I woke up this morning to heavy, grey and miserable looking clouds, within minutes of me waking up, the heavens opened and it began to pour it down. Today was to be my first day of riding in the rain. Joy. I’ve been pretty lucky not to get caught in any so far, has England really had a summer?! I’m shocked!
I must admit I don’t really have the correct clothing for wet weather riding, so I put my jeans on, big fur jacket and retro opened face helmet and set off. I might invest in the bad boy below:

This was not going to be pleasant but off to work I must go!
To be honest with you it wasn’t as bad as thought, but I could really notice the difference on the roads straight away, I felt a lot more wary turning corners and braking, oh and I couldn’t see very much, I’m still inventing some window wipers for glasses, I’ll be on Dragons Den soon. But people (mainly car drivers) just do not seem to be aware that rain should make a difference to how you drive or ride. No distance between each other, driving at stupid speeds and generally being blind to the obvious new obstacle of rain.
I turned up looking like drowned rat and I’m only just drying off now (it’s 3pm, I got to work at 9.30!)

It’s seems to be brightning up now though, which is good because there is a road trip planned to Wales this bank holiday. Where various stops will be made along the way to the many biker friendly cafes in Wales such as The Ponderosa or TheWelshBikers cafe. Wales is always a great place to ride, long winding isolated roads, amazing scenery but I can’t guarantee the weather! It is Wales after all!

Don’t forget if you’re out riding in the rain this weekend or in the future to give your bike a good check over and make sure it’s fit for riding in these conditions. Even better, why don’t you come down to Fasttrack and get yourself a free inspection for peace of mind, have a free tea or coffee whilst you wait and check out our awesome range of bikes we’ve got in at the moment.

What do you get if you mix a group of gorgeous feisty young women, roller skates and a whole heap of adrenaline? You get the Dolly Rockit Rollers! Leicester’s first and only roller derby team.

We’re a big supporter of these ladies, they’ve only been together for just over a year but are already taking the UK and now the world in seems by storm. They recently announced that two of their team members will be travelling to Canada for the first ever Roller Derby World Cup! One playing for England and one for Ireland, which is huge deal!

If you don’t know much or anything about roller derby, in a nutshell:

Girls only.
It is a game played on roller skates on an oval track.
Two teams.
The two teams each send five players onto the track.
One jammer (scorer) and four blockers (defense), one of which counts as a pivot.
The jammer must legally pass all opposing blockers, the blockers try to stop the jammers from scoring.

It all sounds a bit confusing, but trust me, these girls are fearless, fast and full of energy!

Check out their promo vid below!

The Fasstrack Team are all going down to support these lovely ladies in their next battle, against the Hot Wheel Roller Derby called Club Tropicarnage! Come down and show your support and do something completely different with you Saturday afternoon, on September 10th at 1pm.

Have you seen our new revamped van driving round Leicester?

Our Fasttrack ladies on the side of the van can be seen cruising round the city and around the country picking up and delivering motorbikes that you’ve bought from us. Keep your eye out for us, you definitely can’t miss us now, check out the photos!

If you see us on the roads, don’t forget to give us a nod or a wave.
